Trametes versicolor

Seeing we are now stocking Turkey tail Spores and Mycelium , I thought it may be a good idea to give some information on the reported health benefits of these amazing mushrooms.

Turkey Tail Mushrooms, Trametes versicolor

You may have seen them on walks in the woods, but did you know they have some amazing health benefits?

These small, colourful fungi are packed with antioxidants that help fight cell damage in your body. They are also known for supporting your immune system. Turkey tail has been used in traditional Japanese and Chinese medicine for centuries and recent studies have fount that they may even play a roll in fighting cancer cells.

Turkey tail can be found growing on dead stumps and logs, especially in the autumn. If foraging is not your thing Spores and More now stock Mycelium and spores to cultivate your own Turkey tail.

Turkey tail can be found growing in most countries including Japan, China and of course the UK.

It is completely legal to grow Turkey tail mushrooms in the UK as they do not contain Psilocybin.

The Cancer fighting potential

Turkey tail mushrooms may help boost the immune system. A number of studies have shown that Turkey tail mushrooms have immune-boosting properties. This may have benefits for people undergoing cancer treatment.

These mushrooms contain compounds known as polysaccharopeptide (PSP) and polysaccharide-K (PSK). Some evidence suggests that PSP may have the ability to stimulate the immune system, especially when combined with other anticancer treatments.

In Japan, PSK is an approved adjuvant cancer treatment, according to the National Cancer Institute. However it has not been approved as a medication in the United Kingdom.
